1. I will never preach at you about the joys of quitting smoking. Everyone who smokes knows they should quit. The tricky part is figuring out what way is going to work for you.
2. I will not show disgusting pictures of black lungs and cancer-ridden bladders. Mainly, that's for me, because I can't handle gross pictures. There are plenty of those pictures online if you want to look for yourself.
3. I will give you links to websites that will help you quit. They will be free websites that are dedicated to helping you quit. I don't want to sell anything to people who have already been fleeced by the tobacco industry for years and years.
4. I will be honest and open with you about my own struggle with quitting. I will never tell you that quitting is easy, because it's not. The converse of that is quitting does become easier every day you stay "smober".
5. I will never start smoking again because that is the one of the few things I have control over in this world.
6. I want smokers to realize how beautiful life is on the other side of this addiction. My attitude has changed completely since I quit. Oh, I'm still sarcastic and a little bit of a bastard, but I have fully embraced the idea that being positive is instrumental to a successful quit.
7. I am a human being and I will make mistakes. I am going to do my best to give accurate information, but I am not a doctor, nor am I "quitting counselor." I can only give you my experience as a quitter and hope that you read something that will inspire you or someone you know to quit smoking forever.
There are my seven promises. I have come through the other side of this addiction and my goal is to inspire you to do the same. I don't want to do a stop smoking blog only, so I won't just be writing about that. Whatever comes to mind, I'll probably write about. Be patient with me if I go on a tangent. Hopefully, they'll be few and far between. Also, if an occasional picture of a cat pops up, please forgive and just enjoy!
So, let's get this blog started!
Here is my first link to whyquit.com. This is my favorite stop smoking website of all time. Lots of great information here, and all the best advice about quitting cold turkey.
